Days 3 and 4 - Family and Esslingen

 Day 4 - Family

This was mainly a day in the families. Some of the students went to the Käskipperfest with their partners and tried some new German foods and one student watched a tennis match at their partner's club. Another popular sight to visit was the Grabkapelle at the top of Württemberg Hill. In the evening the whole group was invited to the Eisele family's house for a bonfire. We were able to share stories and spend some quality time laughing all together.

Day 5 - Esslingen

First school day (sort of)! Some of the students went to the first class with their partner. Then we met in the cafeteria and took the S-Bahn to Esslingen. Most of the German partners were able to join us, but a couple had presentations in class, so they could not join us. We went on a guided canoe trip down the canals in Esslingen and learned about some of the history along our adventure.

At the end of our boat trip, we split up to explore Esslingen in small groups and to get some lunch together. Some of the students and their partners hiked up over 300 steps up to the Esslinger Burg - the ruins of an old castle with a section of the old fortress wall at the top of the stairs.
